OnePlus started its OnePlus Nord series of mid-range smartphones in the last year. With the OnePlus 9 series event scheduled for tomorrow, the company will conclude its plans for the flagship market in the first half of 2021.
Now, we may see the brand shifting its focus onto releasing its next batch of mid-range smartphones. We’re not sure whether the OnePlus Nord will be replaced by the OnePlus 9R or OnePlus will unveil an OnePlus Nord 2.
The OnePlus Nord N1 carries an alleged “Ebba” codename. Unfortunately, the details of the phone are still scarce.
However, OnLeaks has prepared 3D renders and has some additional information to share. The phone will have a metal frame and a plastic back to help to bring the price down. If you recall, the OnePlus Nord N10 is all plastic.
Interestingly, the phone has the same dimensions as the OnePlus Nord N10. Even the display has the same 6.49-inch diagonal and a single punch hole in the upper left corner.
There’s no word on refresh rate or other improvements yet. Hopefully, the internals of the handset will justify an upgrade. The phone also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that doubles as a power button.
The phone will also keep the 3.5mm headphone jack, and will have triple-cameras down from four. The N10 has a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor that are here just to inflate the numbers.
The original OnePlus Nord packs a Snapdragon 690 chipset which offers 5G connectivity. We expect the OnePlus Nord N1 to keep its 5G network support, otherwise, it would be a downgrade.
There aren’t many options for an upgrade other than the Snapdragon 765G. We also don’t think that OnePlus will enter a partnership with MediaTek for using its Dimensity chipsets.
